We have been privileged to travel 480 miles to participate in the Kansas City show every year since 1991 (except in 2016 when the Show was cancelled).  We have attended carving shows in many locations but the KC show has always been the most organized, most attended, and enjoyable for us.

Our business is processing and marketing northern Minnesota basswood and butternut for carvers and crafters.  We purchase the lumber in eight foot lengths from several sawmills in sizes ranging from one inch to five inches in thickness, then dry all the wood and finally process to customer orders.

In addition to various sizes of carving wood, we produce laminated panels for relief carvers, boxes of various sizes of bark boards, diamond willow rough-outs and basswood and aspen walking sticks.

New to the 2017 Kansas City Woodcarvers Show will be basswood ovals for the wood burning artists.  We have also added 3” to 5” thick yellow birch, silver maple and black ash for wood turners and bowl carvers.  We are currently drying the wood and hopefully this hardwood will be dry enough to bring along.  And if course, we will be bringing boxes of 25 cent and 50 cent pieces of wood for the bargain hunters!

For questions or inquiries, contact us any time.  See you in March 2017.

 Introducing:   Moore Wood and Roughouts

Randy and Pat Moore - Owners

Randy and Pat Moore – Owners

We have been in business over 10 years, and now have over 700 Roughouts to offer. Our Roughouts are made in the USA (by us) in West Fargo, ND.  We use “winter cut” Premium Northern Minnesota Basswood & Butternut.   To insure we will have the correct size Wood & Roughouts at your show – Please let us know in Advance.  We will be sure to bring the items you need!  Check out our items on the website:    Contact us by Email: or Phone: 800-825-2657.  We will be at the 2017 Kansas City Woodcarving Show, and hope to see you there.

What is a Roughout Blank – You ask?

Our Roughouts are wooden blanks make “In the Round” from “Premium” Northern Minnesota Basswood, carved out on a “CNC” (Computerized Numerical Router machine). Unlike band sawn blanks (which only provide you the front and side profiles, the “CNC” machine takes it to the next level, removing wood from all four side! The end product resembles the “Multi-View” picture we enclose with your purchase.  Yet, enough wood is left remaining for you to put your own person touch to each piece.

For those of you who are New to Woodcarving –

Roughout Blanks are a great place to start!  An Artist designed the piece and worked out all the bugs, so you don’t have to!  You will note that with each Roughout the placement of the major features is visible right from the start and with a little fine tuning on your part (and the use of the “Multi-View” picture) you are well on your way to a finished piece in half the time!

For those of you who are Veteran Woodcarvers -.

Roughout Blanks provide a fast start to any project, yet allows you room to alter the piece to fit your own individual style.

We look forward to meeting you through our web site, catalog or travels to woodcarving events throughout the United States!
